SCAR TREATMENT AFTER A FACELIFT SURGERY
How Your Facelift Scar Heals After Surgery
Scars are a natural component of the healing process. They may appear after surgery or when your skin is damaged by a cut or other trauma.
Your wound may be exceedingly red, puffy, or numb after surgery or treatment. Please follow your healthcare provider's advice for how to care for your operation site in the first few weeks following surgery. The scar that appears after a few weeks may feel hard, tight, elevated, or rough. The scar will grow softer, smoother, and less red with time. After your procedure, your scar will take 12 to 18 months to heal.
How to Take Care of Your Facelift Scar at Home
Scars don't go away entirely, but there are things you can do to improve the appearance and feel of your scar. Before doing any of the following, see your dermatologist (skin doctor). About 4 weeks following surgery, the majority of individuals may begin performing them.
Keep your scar safe from the sun.
Allowing your scar to be exposed to sunlight may cause it to heal more slowly. It might also make the scar seem darker and larger. When you're outdoors or anywhere else where your scar can be exposed to the sun, it's critical to cover it. You have the option of doing the following: Use sunscreen to protect your scar. Use an SPF 30 or higher broad-spectrum sunscreen.
To keep the sun off your face, wear a hat with a broad brim.
Wear clothes that is meant to keep the sun off of you.
