Notice the dramatic improvement of her jowls and neck. 3 separate SMAS muscle sutures in 3 different directions are used to achieve a powerful, natural lift. This procedure was done under local anesthesia and took 30 minutes in the office. It is important for the surgeon to not talk patients into surgeries that they do not desire and let the patient dictate what bothers them. Unfortunately, this is rare in today's day and age.

Patient had no other procedures or injectables or laser treatments at this time although she has had Botox, Juvéderm and laser treatments previously.

Even with her postoperative swelling, notice the changing of her shape from a square face to a more natural, youthful V shape as her jowls were lifted and jawline sharpened. She did not have any eyelid rejuvenation, or a midface (cheek) lift which would further dramatically improve her nasolabial folds. She had no injectables and no laser treatments. Of course, her skin quality and specifically large pores and pigmentation and sun damage can be improved with no downtime laser skin rejuvenation therapy.

It is important to take pictures with patients animating as well as scrunching their neck down towards their chin so that it almost touches their chest. This gives you a better idea of how much extra skin laxity and droopiness they have as opposed to just looking at the traditional static pictures. In the second picture she's not quite drooping down as much as we would like but you can see the dramatic difference regardless.

A 65 year old male patient before and 6 months after a direct necklift done in the office under local anesthesia which took only 20 minutes. Even though he was a candidate to get other procedures such as a facelift, cosmetic eyelid surgery, as well as injectables, the only thing that bothered him with his neck and he was willing to tolerate a small T scar. This is a very gratifying operation especially for men who can hide the scar in their beard. His retruded chin was also elevated (pushed upwards) with the procedure to look more normal and even his jowls were improved.

The hardest part to this operation is the initial postoperative period and looking at the red thick scar but as with all scars, it usually softens within 6-12 months to become a soft white line in most patients.

Notice the midface and cheeks were still lifted about 30% which is to be expected with only a lower facelift. It is not realistic to think the mid face will be further corrected without also getting the additional midface or cheek lift surgery.

78-year-old female before and 2 months after a mini scar lateral neck lift. You'll notice the dramatic improvement without any scarring in the midline. Patient had enough skin laxity to warrant a full scar neck lift but did not want the anterior scar. So the scar she got with this new minimally invasive surgery was a 3 cm lateral neck scar tucked under her jaw line and a 1 cm scar in the hair.

78-year-old female before and 2 months after a mini scar lateral neck lift. Notice how the submental angle is now harmonious in the lateral view. This is not a thread lift which does not give much improvement and does not last. After 1 year most thread lift patients notice only a 1-2 mm difference. Here, the SMAS muscles are tightened with 2-0 PDS internally which absorbs after four months and these are the same sutures we use for facelifts and full neck lifts. The result is much more dramatic.

Notice the remarkable difference in the depth of his nasolabial folds. Men who are willing to tolerate these scars and do not want an extensive procedure are excellent candidates for this operation. Remember, this was a simple procedure done in the office under local anesthesia that took about 40 minutes!

66 year old male patient before and 5 months after direct neck lift. Patient did not want any other surgery. Notice the remarkable difference in the neck contour with downward flexion. This surgery was done in the office with only local anesthesia that took 42 minutes.

80 year old female patient before and 8 years after a Short Scar face lift without any additional neck lift surgery. A Facelift will also improve the neck but there are also 8 different neck lift type of procedures that Dr. Speron can do to further enhance the neck area. A lot of it will depend on how much excess skin there is, lipodystrophy, and loose muscles or glands. This procedure took 36 minutes in the office under local anesthesia.

There's also some correction of her nasolabial fold which would be more dramatic if she also had a Midface or Cheek Lift at the same time. She had no neck work, facial injections or laser treatments.

Please notice that lower eyelid surgery alone does not typically improve that long-term, despite what other surgeons might tell you. A midface or cheek lift is necessary for long term correction and improvement of these issues.

The thing that bothered her the most was her midface descent, malar bags, and prominent nasojugal grooves and tear trough. All of these were corrected with only a mid facelift. Patient hasn’t had any fat injections, Botox, fillers or other procedures yet which could further improve her results.

36 year old 1 day after a mini facelift. Notice the easily concealed scars. For most patients, we take off the Steri-Strips the next day, but this patient wanted to leave them on. Patients can shower the next day. Even though the patient has swelling (which maxes out 2 days after any surgery), you can notice she has no bruising. Even though the ear can look funny initially, the inside sutures are placed in key positions where they do not distort the ear long-term. This is important.

41 year old 3 weeks after a mini facelift. Notice the well-healed and easily concealed scars. Our facelift packaging includes three free laser scar treatments that we start two weeks after surgery.

49 year old 3 days after a mini facelift. Notice the easily concealed scars. Patient showered the day after surgery. Puckering is from removing a lot more skin than the scar length and closing it onto itself to have a small scar. This resolves fairly quickly.

49 year old before a mini facelift. Notice the markings of the muscle or SMAS tightening. Most plastic surgeons tighten the SMAS muscle in only one direction but I tighten it in 3 different directions, one for addressing the cheek, one for the jowl, and one for the neck. This is a much more powerful lift and looks much more natural because it's not just being pulled in one direction.

49 year old before and 1 day, 1 month and 1 year after a mini facelift. Notice the mole that in front of the scar and that is present throughout the healing process. At the one month mark, you'll notice there was a little scaly scab, that is a "spitting stitch". The inside PDS stitches typically last 4 months and the body absorbs them. Sometimes the superficial dermal sutures "spit" or work their way out and we typically just remove this in the office without having to numb the patient. If patient wish to further camouflage the top scar they can get FUE or hair micrografts placed there or they can get a tattoo to make the white scar more flesh-colored. Most patients are happy with the scars and do not do any additional procedures. The patient also used the Dr. Speron’s Natural Skin Care Scar Product after her 2 week checkup until the scar was fully mature at 1 year out.

59 year old female patient before, 2 days after and 7 days after bilateral upper and lower blepharoplasty. Notice the nice periorbital rejuvenation evident even early on. The maximal swelling after any surgery is typically 2 days after a procedure. Most of the swelling is gone by 1-2 weeks. 90% of swelling is gone by 6 weeks with the final result evident 3-6 months after the surgery. Scar maturation is complete about 12 months after the surgery.
